Grief affects us all differently. Sometimes we need the help of professionals to guide us through. Over the past few years we have been hearing from you that assistance in accessing grief counselling is an area of need in our communities.
The Solace Fund was created to provide funding for professional grief counselling to the spouse or caregiver of palliative care patients who have died, for whom it would be beneficial but for whom it would be financially difficult to obtain on their own.
Applications for support may be submitted to South Shore Hospice Palliative Care Society by either the palliative team social worker or nurse working with the family.
If approved, the support will cover approximately 4 sessions of private grief counselling with a qualified grief counsellor .
