Care & Support Programs

The South Shore Hospice Palliative Care Society offers various care and support programs designed to support individuals grieving the loss of a loved one. Our compassionate programs include informal coffee groups for widows, specialized art and cooking workshops, and tech support sessions.

The South Shore Hospice Palliative Care Society strives to provide a safe and understanding environment where those affected by grief can find solace, share their experiences, and receive the emotional support they need to heal. Our goal is to ensure that no one has to face the journey of grief alone.

Coffee Clubs for Widows are small, compassionate peer support groups that foster a sense of comaraderie over the ritual of coffee and good company. While we understand that everyone’s grief journey is unique, we strive to offer widows a safe and welcoming space where they can find comfort and solace in the company of others who understand the struggles and challenges associated with grief.

What we offer:

  • Weekly informal meetings that foster friendship and healing
  • Small group sizes that cater to various interests and personalities
  • A safe place where you will find acceptance, understanding, and a sense of belonging
  • A supportive environment where we uplift one another and share wisdom and experiences

How do I join a Coffee Club?

Before joining one of our Coffee Clubs new participants meets with a program coordinator to discuss their individual needs and specific details about how our program works. Cooking for Care is a free, community-based program for those who have experienced significant loss. Cooking for Care recognizes the power of coming together around the table, not only to nourish the body, but also to nurture the spirit. By combining the therapeutic benefits of cooking with the camaraderie of shared experiences, this program aims to provide a source of comfort and nourishment for those navigating the difficult journey of grief.

Participants of Cooking for Care gather to create a hearty and comforting meal in small groups guided by our helpful volunteers. No cooking experience is required, and all materials and ingredients are provided. Beyond the act of cooking, the act of sharing a meal together provides attendees the opportunity to share stories, make connections, and support one another on their individual journeys.
